RealBanknotes.com Invite/Registration Codes: Membership is Open
by Proteus on Feb.01, 2013, under Website Updates
RealBanknotes.com is, and always will be a free website. Even the members section is free, and always will be. However, while programming the site I decided to make registration ‘By Invitation Only’ because I am more concerned about the quality of our members, than the quantity. So, as part of the system, a registration code is required to register as a member, and registered members have only a handful of invites that they can offer. As of February 1st (today) I have started handing out some registration codes to begin the process of registering interested members. I have a handful of friends in this hobby, and a few favorite eBay sellers as well. However, I will also be posting a few invite codes on this Paper Money Blog as well as on RealBanknotes.com. Once they’re gone …

RealBanknotes.com Update
by Proteus on Mar.31, 2011, under Website Updates
Its been a long time since I posted any progress reports on our parent website, RealBanknotes.com. Here are the current stats, as of right now:
- Banknotes Listed: 40334
- Banknotes With Images: 6391
- Banknotes Values: 40013
- eBay Sales Values: 7092
- Banknote Views: 294206
I have recently added almost 6000 banknotes to the database, and have added images for over one thousand banknotes since the last update. Also, almost 11,000 paper money catalog values have been added recently, and our banknote views have soared by 160,000 banknote views in the last two months. That means have have had 80,000 banknote views at RealBanknotes.com per month over the last two months, and that figure is constantly growing. Thanks for your support.
Next on the agenda:
Adding the remainder of the paper money catalog values for the 2008 catalogs. There are only a few thousand more values to add, but I am taking a break from adding catalog values and have decided to add more photos / images of paper money. Once I am bored with adding images, I will revert back to adding catalog values. Once I have both catalog values and images updated for all nations up to 2008, then I will probably toy with the idea of a design change in preparation for the 2012 catalogs.
Gone for some R’n'R

Well folks, I am off for twelve days on a little vacation. I should be able to post up a few more thing before Christmas, so I won’t be doing the Christmas wishing thing quite yet. See you all again real soon!
New RealBanknotes.com Website
by Proteus on Apr.30, 2010, under Website Updates
Hello all ye faithful visitors!
As you probably know this blog is a child project of RealBanknotes.com. I designed the website way back, before I was any good at designing, and as an exercise to learn PHP and MySQL. Well, I’m not saying that I’m a great designer, but I have learned lots, and continue to do so. As a portfolio piece I have decided to re-vamp the website, and I am very excited about my latest design and scripts. The website is a little ways off from being ready, but the general layout and design is nearly complete.
I’m very excited to present the layout for the future RealBanknotes.com. I’m open to some feedback: not so much on the design end, but of the functionality. Anything that you would like featured on the website? Let me know, I might throw it in!
RealBanknotes.com Update
by Proteus on Dec.21, 2009, under Website Updates
Because of all my school work and other responsibilities in life, I have been unable to catalog paper money online as quickly as I would have liked to. Hence, I have hired a third party to add paper money to the website. Now, I have made their progress ‘invisible’ for the time being, as I would like to double-check the quality before it goes public. I am happy to say that they are doing a great job, and have added nearly 3000 banknotes to the site. They have been commissioned to add 18,000, all of them from the General Issues catalog. Once they are done, and their work has been checked over, I will make the notes public and will begin the extensive job of adding images, catalog values, etc.
The site has, currently, 12,829 banknotes listed, and is growing each week.
If you feel as though you could contribute to the effort, please let me know. If you are unable to make a small commitment like this, then I ask you to at least click on the banners at www.Realbanknotes.com once in a while so that I can use the advertising revenue to pay some of the expenses of hiring this company.
Thanks. Hope to see you there soon.

RealBanknotes.com Update
by Proteus on Oct.11, 2009, under Website Updates
Well, I have had a multitude of posts in the last little while, but none featuring the updates that I managed to make on our RealBanknotes.com website. I’m probably going to have to cool it a little over the next little while … I do have a bunch of school work that needs to be done first, and even some chores around the house. However, in the last little bit I did manage to make a bunch of additions.
But first the stats:
– Banknote Listings: 9125
– Notes with Pics: 4375
– eBay Values: 4052
– Catalog Values: 8361
– Bills Viewed: 41007
Also, I have added all modern issue banknotes from Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, and Luxembourg. This I may have posted earlier. In addition, however, I have recently added the majority of images for these banknotes, as well as all the catalog values listed in the 2006 issue of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money.
After I finished these updates I went back a little ways to check if I missed anything for any of the previous countries and I discovered that I had not uploaded any images for Kenya’s paper money. So I rounded up a bunch of images and now close to half of Kenya’s modern banknotes now have images featured on the site.
I guess countries that start with the letter ‘M’ will probably be next, and I did get a small start of Macao. However, I cannot promise any monumental progress over the next little while. School calls! Speaking of which …
